AJKPC Condoles Sarpanch’s Killing, holds Govt Responsible

Jammu, February 25 (Scoop News) - AJKPC, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference, an amalgam Organization of elected Panches and Sarpanches of Jammu and Kashmir while condemning the brutal killing of Javed Ahmad Wani, the 5th Sarpanch in the J & K on Sunday evening there in Baramulla Distrcit held the government of Jammu and Kashmir responsible for all the killings of the Panchayat leaders so far. The AJKPC leaders who met here in winter capital on Monday said that all these killings were caused due to the deliberate negligence of the state government which itself wants to fail the constitutional institutions so that the issue of power sharing dies once for all.
While addressing the meeting of AJKPC members, Shafiq Mir, Chairman of the organization said that there is no institution like government in Jammu and Kashmir state and that is why the innocent elected people are dying helplessly and the so called state government seems only mute spectator of the situation. Mir said that AJKPC cannot see its people to die every day and will take a final decision soon in AJKPC’s exective body meeting . He said that despite repeated representations for security cover to the threatened Sarpanches, Panches the so called state government did not take any action which suggests that the government was deliberately making the innocent Panchayat members as sacrificial lambs so that others get terrorized and submit their resignations fearing their lives. “ with the tactic, the government wants to get rid of the empowerment issue raised by elected panchayat represenatives”, Said Mir.
Anil Sharma, General Secretary the organization also criticized botht center and state governments for the failure in protecting lives of panchayat members. Anil Sharma said that the All the MLA’s, MP’s, CM and ministers of J & K should also surrender their security covers and feel the ground reality with regard to safety and security . Today not only 33000 Panchayat members are fearing for risk to their lives but even their family members are also living under fear psychosis. Whereas, Ghulam Hassan Punzoo Chief spokesperson of AJKPC said that in the prevailing situation of the state it was very difficult for Pro-democracy forces to work in the state and especially in the valley. Expressing his deep concern over the security of Panches and Sarpanches, Panzoo suggested that there was no option for them but to quit now however his suggestion was put hold for the delibration in the executive body meeting which has been called within days.
