Food Commissioner imposes ban on Gutkha
DC imposes restrictions on processions
Jammu, March 6 (Scoop News) -In exercise of the powers vested upon him under clause (a) of sub-section 30 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, Mr Manoj Kumar Dwivedi , IAS, Commissioner of Food Safety, Jammu and Kashmir ordered ban on manufacture, storage, sale transportation, display or distribution of Gutkha in the state.
As per the notification number HD/Drug/58/2012 issued today the Commissioner of Food has prohibited distribution of Gutkha by whatever name and Pan Masala or Zarda containing tobacco or nicotine as ingredients by any name.
Mr Dwivedi said that as Gutkha of any type contains tobacco or nicotine as major ingredient so it is practical to impose ban on its manufacturing, storage, sale, transportation or distribution in the state.
This order was issued immediately after the Budget announcement in this regard where the Finance Department has agreed to impose the ban on such products in the interest of health care of the citizens of J&K State.



DC imposes restrictions on processions



District Magistrate, Jammu Sanjeev Verma in exercise of the powers vested upon him under section 144 Cr. P.C, has ordered that no processions shall be taken out by any individual or groups of individuals and no provocative slogans shall be raised by anyone in the areas on routes specified as Bajaj Tower Shalamar to Library Chowk, Kacci Chawani, on Flyover from Police Control Room to District Institute of Education and Training behind New Secretariat, Jammu, On flyover from Subash Chowk (Mahesh Pura Chowk) to District Institute of Education and Training, Rotary behind New Secretariat to New Secretariat and Shaheedi Chowk to Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
However, this order shall not apply to marriage and funeral processions.
This order shall come into force for the period of two months, from March 5 or till rescinded, whichever is earlier.
