J&KSSWB Celebrates International Women’s Day
Wakhloo stresses on maintaining status of women at all costs
Jammu, March 7 (Scoop News) -J&K State Social Welfare Board (J&KSSWB) today organised an impressive function to mark International Women’s Day, here at Jammu University .

Chairperson, J&KSSWB Mrs. Khem Lata Wakhloo was the chief guest, while around 1200 women hailing from urban and rural areas of Jammu division attended the function.

Secretary, J&KSWB, Gazaffer Ali, Managing Director Women Development Corporation, Nahid Soz, Executive Director Rehabilitation council, Hafiza Muzaffer, Aamir Ali, Vice President, All India Pradesh Congress Committee, Lalit Joshi, Prof Rita Jitendra, all board members, Gh. Nabi Mir, A. M. Mir, Sarla Kohli, Santosh Magotra, Kanta Bhan, Bimla Bhagotra, Raj Sharma and several prominent citizen attended the function.

Prof. Rita Jitendra anchored the programme, while a group of students presented a scintillating cultural programme highlighting the issues of women folk and educating them about their rights and duties.

Addressing the function, Mrs. Khem Lata Wakhloo stressed upon one and all to respect and maintain the status of women at all costs and put in every effort to create a secure and safe atmosphere for her to play a pivotal role in transformation of society and eradication of social evils.

Congratulating women on International Day being celebrated across the globe, Mrs. Wakhloo said that women has been bestowed with courage, patience and sincere heart by Almighty and in all times she had shouldered more responsibilities in the up keep of family and society than men . She said that girls not only fill the home of their parents with joy but also the household where they get married.

Asking women to fight for their rights, Mrs Wakhloo reminded women of their duties as well. She said that sex determination test and female feoticide are the worst crimes of modern society and a blanket ban should be imposed on such practices.

The function began with a prayer in which a large number of children participated. The programme enthralled the audience and won great applaud.
