His Excellency DrManmohan Singh Prime Minister of India New Delhi
Sub: An open letter from Kargil Ladakh.
I would like to draw your kind attention towards the long pending demands of the people of Ladakh who have been waiting for decades for these demands to be met. As the prime minister of Pakistan, Raja Parvez, is arriving in New Delhi on Saturday, it seems necessary to mention that there are thousands of divided families on both sides of the LoC (Gilgit Baltistan and Ladakh). Though some people in India and Pakistan are enjoying the benefits of peaceful relations between India and Pakistan, the people of these areas are still waiting for a positive outcome. The people of Ladakh and Baltistan demand the Kargil-Skardu road be opened for trade and travel on a humanitarian basis, as the Srinagar–Muzafarabad route was opened by India and Pakistan. In light of the above mentioned problems, we ask your good self to take up this matter with Prime Minister Parvez in his forthcoming meeting with you. Please open the routes in Ladakh and Giilgit Baltistan for trade and travel. We request your Honour to consider this both a personal and humanitarian matter for the people of this region. Respectfully. SajjadHussainKargili Civil Rights Activist Kargil Ladakh J&K India.
