MSME has huge potential for self employment in Leh:Sonam
Leh, March 12 (Scoop News) -The District Industries Centre, Leh with a motive to attract youths of Leh district towards Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) for self employment generation after their education, today organized a day long awareness programme for the students of Elizer Jolden Memorial College, Leh, Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh and Girls Higher Secondary School, Leh at Sheynam Community Hall.
Chief Guest on the occasion Sonam Dorjey, Executive Councilor for Agriculture, LAHDC, Leh addressing a large gathering of students said that to become a successful person in any field, good education is the first and foremost tool to face any challenge in one’s life and strongly urged upon the students to go for highest level of education with utmost dedication.
Appreciating DIC, Leh for organizing such awareness prgarmme and sensitizing the youths about various prestigious schemes of Centre and State Govt., Sonam Dorjey urged upon the students not to hang around only for govt jobs which is absolutely not possible for govt to provide jobs for every educated persons. He urged them to prepare themselves to become a successful entrepreneur saying that it would not only give them a good business but would help to generate employment to other needy people also. Dorjey said that most of the Ladakhi youths have seen lacking in tolerance, patience and hard working while going on business line saying that one can’t achieve success unless we do not take the business seriously with utmost forbearance. He strongly urged the youth to become job provider rather than a job seeker.
Earlier, the District General Manager DIC, Leh Kunzen Angmo addressing the programe explained in detail about the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) programme. She said that MSME programmes has emerged as a highly vibrant and dynamic sector of the Indian economy over the last five decades. She further said that MSMEs not only play crucial role in providing large employment opportunities at comparatively lower capital cost than large industries but also help in industrialization of rural & backward areas, thereby, reducing regional imbalances, assuring more equitable distribution of national income and wealth and urged upon the participating students to make themselves fully aware about these self sustained businesses.

The function was also addressed by recourse persons which include Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Leh Tashi Dolma who educated the students about tax and its importance in overall development of a nation. Tsewang Paljor Executive Engineer PDC, delivered his speech in context with Alchi Hydel Project and its positive impact on the emerging industries in Leh and Branch Manager J&K Bank Nemoo Tsewang Dorjey spoke about various loans schemes of J&K bank and its role in economic development of the J&K State.

Few emerging progressive proprietors of Leh like Sonam Chorol Proprietor Superb Shawls, Sonam Angchuk Onpo Dairy and Tundup Tsering Sindhu Food Processing also shared their success stories and experiences in their respective fields and urged upon the unemployed youths of Leh to establish their own business units after completing their education without waiting for Govt. jobs.
The Functional Manger DIC, Leh Luthra Dejor, Functional Manger DIC, Leh Gh. Nabi Tak and Head Assistant Gyurmet Tsering also delivered their speeches and expounded in detail about various ongoing schemes of DIC, Leh and their significance in context with Ladakh region.
