JK CM Condemn killing of a youth by militants Militants
Killings by militants or security force condemnable in unequivocal terms
Jammu, March 20 (Scoop News) –JK Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday strongly condemned the killing of Suhail Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulan Nabi Sofi a young person from Doabgah Sopore by militants last night.
“ Suhail was chased by militants and he entered a mosque for refuge but the militants shot him inside the mosque and killed the young boy there”, the Chief Minister told the Legislative Assembly while making a statement about the incident.
Expressing grief over the killing of the young person, Omar Abdullah also put a cross his dismay over the behaviour of a particular faction of members who raise voices vehemently against the similar incidents in which security personnel are involved but keep mum when militants kill innocent people. “If this kind of killing had been committed by security forces they would have torn out their clothes, castigated the country and asked me to give the answer for bleeding of innocent blood”, he said and questioned their double standard over such killings.
Omar said that innocent killing either by security forces or by militants are equally condemnable and any discriminated or unfair behaviour by certain members in this regard is unjustifiable and amounts to lopsided approach by them aimed at appeasement. “Had this incident taken place in the hands of security forces these members would have pulled the mikes, broken the tables and created hue and cry in the Assembly”, he said and ridiculed this type of behaviour. “Shedding of innocent blood and killings of people are ‘killings’ either committed by security forces or by militants and should be condemned in unequivocal terms without any discrimination”, he maintained.
Speaker, Mubarak Gul and the Members of House shared the sentiments of the Chief Minister and supported his assertion and condemned the killing of a young boy by militants.
Intervening during Question Hour, the Chief Minister told the House that government has flagged improvement of road connectivity as one of the most important concerns adding that development of road communication sector in the areas falling under erstwhile Doda district would be given priority attention.
