JK Academy holds book exhibitions at Jammu, Srinagar, Leh
Jammu, April 23 (Scoop News) –To commemorate the World Book Day, the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organized book exhibitions at Jammu, Srinagar and Leh where besides rare books and manuscripts, a large number of Academy’s publications in several languages were at display.
The two-day exhibition at Jammu was inaugurated at Kala Kendra by Secretary Academy, Khalid Bashir Ahmad. He underscored the importance of books in shaping the overall personality of individuals and book exhibitions like these were aimed at reinventing the interest of people, especially the younger generation, in book reading. A large number of book lovers, writers and school children’s were present. The exhibition showcases important special number of the Academy’s publications in Dogri, Kashmiri, Pahari, Gojri, Punjabi, English and Urdu languages.
The book exhibition at Srinagar displayed 350 rare books, some of which were published a century ago, illustrated manuscripts and the Academy’s publications. The exhibition was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, Additional Secretary Academy, Dr. A. S. Aman and prominent writers and artists were also present.
At Leh, the exhibition was inaugurated by noted writer Tashi Rabgyas. The exhibition, showcasing about 5000 books, was organized at a major level by associating various NGOs, social organizations and private individual and evinced lot of interest among visitors.
