She said the time has come for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to fight with all might to get free from the exploitative and atrocious rule of National Conference. She was addressing the members of deh committees and workers of shopian constituency.
Mehbooba said people can use their democratic rights to the best of their advantage as was experienced by the state during PDP -Cong regime . Any democracy is incomplete unless their is an alternative and PDP has not only filled that space but has proved to be a better alternative to the traditional ruling class in the state. She reminded people that PDP had become a necessity to fight the brutalities inflicted by NC with a brute 2/3rd majority between 1996 to 2000.
Mehbooba said it was the moral courage of a leader like Mufti Mohmmed Sayeed who brought in a sense of security within no time and used the available government machinery to the best advantage of people. Today once again people of the state are facing worst kind of situation with lawlessness on one hand and mis governance and corruption on the other. She said this govt has become a symbol of death, destruction and darkness with mafia ruling the roost including drug mafia, politico-contractor mafia, corporate mafia, crime mafia to name a few. Only God knows how many innocents would have lost their lives by consuming the spurious drugs brought into the state by this govt she said.
Mehbooba said hardly a day passes without a new corruption case getting exposed. There seems to be no accountability as the chief minister lost his moral authority to govern and hold his cabinet accountable the same day when Haji Yousuf was allegedly tortured at CM’s official residence resulting in his subsequent death. She said this govt marked its beginning with the tragic and dastardly death of Asiya and Neelofar in Shopian and continued with the killing of 120 innocents including children in 2010, hundreds of infant deaths at GB Pant Hospital in 2012, secret hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru in 2013, destruction of Dastgeer sahib shrine and killing of Panchayat representatives have become the tragic milestones of this government, which has proved a deadly monster for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba said alarming increase in crime and criminal activities including murders, extortion, robberies and acts of sexual abuse across the state with virtual lawlessness all around depicts the level of anarchy in the state. Condemning the murder of Bilal Ahmed murder at Baskuchen she during last night has once again shaken the people of this area, she said.
Expressing concern at the the power situation is worsening every day inspite of the tariff increasing manifold Mehbooba said people are suffering on account of absence of good roads , and there is no improvement in roads , drinking water , irrigation , health facilities and other services. She said under this government J&K was thrown into worst ever power and LPG crisis. She said it is now established that only personal comforts and luxuries are important to this regime and not people’s plight.
Mehbooba said back door appointments at hefty amounts which are the trade mark of NC are back with full force, thus playing with the future of thousands of deserving youth. She said no less than the central ministers and CAG have castigated this govt for non spending, diversion or misuse of hundreds of crores in schemes like MNREEGA, PMGSY. All these negative factors have contributed to the disillusionment of public with the present government she said and added people all over the state are looking at PDP to deliver them from this mess. She urged the workers to gear up for this challenge so that people's aspirations could be fulfilled.
