Jammu, April 29 (Scoop News) –Alleging that India’s defence policy towards China is soft as a result of which china indulges in intrusions every now and then, BJP National Executive Member & former Member of Parliament thupstan Chhewang, said that the country under Congress-led UPa has adopte a complete silence over incidents of foreigh attacks on country’s sovereignty.

Addressing a press conference at party headquarters on Monday along with National executive Member Dr. Nirmal Singh and State General secretary Bali Bhagat, Chhewang said that the recent incidents of intrusion by People’s Liberation army deep into Indian territory is not the first such case. In the past too, such intrusions have taken place and every time our union government has taken lightly, which encouraged china and today the situation has reached such a point that illegal entry into Indian borders has become a routine matter for china.

Thupstan Chhewang said that instead of taking immediate appropriate steps to discourage China from waging undeclared war with India, our Prime Minister, union home Minister and other senior ministers are making foolish statements. Statements like undemarcated borders between India and china or disputed area, are the utterances which is seditious. He said that there exists agreements and protocal between both the countries after war of 1962 to respect line of control and resolve the related misunderstandings through proper channels but China never honoured the agreement.

Chhewang said that the soft defence policy towards china has not only demoralised the army and other forces deployed along borders but the people living in these areas are feeling scared despite their being brave and nationalist by heart. He said that the people of Ladakh have always displayed valour and even made sacrifices right from 1947 during all the wars and battles forced on the country despite the fact they live in very harsh conditions, where development and provision of even basic amenities is stils a dream. He said that the remote region of Ladakh is the most ignored, under developed and and nneds due attention by the central and the state government, especially the people living on the border with China and Pakistan.

The former MP further said that China is moving with a well planed conspiracy to grab inch by inch land of Ladakh by making intrusion after gap of few months and the same is contuniuning as the Indian side never bothered retaliate adequately. Although we believe in principle of having cordial and friendly relations with our neighbouring countries but it should not mean that we are weak and taken for granted. It is high time that the Government of India should take note of frequent intrusions by china very seriously and review its whole defence ploicy viv-a-viz China. He demanded creation of Special Command Base in Ladakh to counter Chinese threat.

Dr. Nirmal Singh said that the government should shed the policy of discrimination with Ladakh and it should concentrate on equitable development of the entire Ladakh region along Indo-China borders. He said that the government should also work to defeat the cultural aggression on Ladakh from across the border and the television and mobile services should be ensured in entire Ladakh. He further said that the peace in Ladakh is also imperative for successful tourism and hence the government should deal with the neighbour like China with strong will.
