International Nurses Day observed in Kashmir | ‘Best Nurse of the year’ awarded | Srinagar,May 12 (Scoop News) – Like other parts of the country, International Nurses Day was observed at Srinagar. To mark the Day, an impressive function was held at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar in which Medical fraternity and students of College of Nursing/AMT School, Srinagar participated. The Principal, Dean, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Prof. Rafiq Ahmad Pampori was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Pampori highlighted the significance of the highly noble profession of ‘’Nurse’’ in relation to present day scenario. He said all possible efforts are being taken to further improve the status of the Nurses in Hospitals vis-a-vis in the society, adding Nurses command a good respect in foreign countries. Prof. Pampori enjoined upon the Nursing students to ensure wholehearted commitment with their profession and work hard to attain the noble status that it holds in the developed countries. The Principal GMC advised the Nurses to deal politely and patiently with the patients as it is the ‘Nurse’ who patient see in the first at Hospital. He said a Nurse by dint of her profession can contribute a lot to decrease maternal and infant mortality. Prof. Pampori said that various landmark achievements have been made by the Government Nursing College and AMT School, Srinagar during last one year which include introduction of various new courses in paramedics. He said Union Health Ministry is also providing assistance to make this Nursing College the state-of-art College. Later, the Principal distributed prizes among the ‘’Best Nurse of the Year’’ Miss Razia Panjabi, who works in SMHS Hospital, Srinagar. The ‘’Best students award’’ was also given to 4 students of the Nursing College on the occasion. These students include Miss Nargis (First), Miss Nazima (2nd), Miss Rukiya (3rd) and Miss Taja Bano (4th). Earlier, an interaction session was held in which Millennium Development goals were discussed at length. Among others, Principal, College of Nursing/AMT School, Srinagar, Ms. Jamsheda Akhtar Zaaroo, Faculty Members of the Nursing/AMT School and students were also present on the occasion. ... |
