Priya Sethi concludes Kashmir visit

Srinagar/Jammu, May 24 (Scoop News) –BJP Mahila Morcha State President Priya Sethi, on the last day of her team’s visit to Kashmir, held meetings with the morcha activists at Munshi Bagh, Noorabad and Anantnag for direct interactions with the women activists to assess the problems being by women there.

Priya Sethi was told that the women in particular are facing problems due to prise rise, unemployment, non-implementation of the social welfare schemes to the needy and deserving ones, delay in verification related to renewal of ration cards, cut in the quota of ration and kerosene oil.

Priya Sethi, while speaking in a meeting at Anantnag, said that it is most unfortunate that the Social Welfare Minister, who herself is a women and belongs to Anantnag district, has shown least concern towards the plight of the widows, who have been running from pillar to post for so long for getting widow pension sanctioned in their favour. She said that many widows personally met him to express resentment over piling of their files related to pensions etc. in offices of Social Welfare Department.
Priya Sehi said that the women in the state are subjeced to discrimination domestic violence and made to suffer on account of the indifferent attitude towards them even by the government, which makes high claims of equality. She said that the government should shed its plicy of discrimination on the basis of gender and extend the benefits of the welfare schemes in an impartial and uniform manner.
At Anantnag, the Morcha team was accorded warm reception by BJP Distt. President Ghulam Nabi Dar.
She was acompanied by Anuradha Charak, Anju Dogra, Saroj Gupta, Haleema Begum, Khatoon Muzaffar, Irfani, Kulsum, Rafiqa, Dilshada and others.
