| Kaul compliments Rana for hastening end of NC | | Srinagar, June 13 (Scoop News)- Reiterating that Devender Singh Rana and his family members had a direct role in the unfortunate polarisation of 2008, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Thursday, called for independent investigation into the activities of his TV channel as well.
Party’s National Spokesperson, Dr Sameer Kaul said in a statement that Rana not only reportedly provided monetary support to the communal Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti, which spearheaded the agitation in Jammu that ensured the worst economic blockade to Kashmir, but even used his Take one channel to spread hatred between communities. He said there had been inquiries into the role of Rana family whose one member was a spokesman of the Amarnath Samiti while being in government service. The role of Take one channel had also been questioned but Rana used his strong family connection in the then governor's administration to scuttle both probes, Sameer Kaul alleged. "He is believed even to have been helped in averting a probe by some of his influential friends who are now spending time in jail in serious criminal cases" Kaul added.
Kaul said PDP does not grudge the fast growing prosperity of Rana which has attracted public attention and could be coincidental with his unlimited powers that he exercised without accountability. He said it is also becoming clear that Rana after having edged out all seniors in the National Conference is trying to become the “Rana” of Jammu to match the "Sultans" of Kashmir. He said the phenomenal rise in the fortunes of Rana during the last four years when he was seen as the man behind the throne as advisor to his friend, the chief minister Omar Abdullah is already being related with the unprecedented fall of the National Conference.
Complimenting Rana for his contribution in the imminent rout of National Conference Dr Kaul said time was not far when people of the state would felicitate him for hastening the end of the chief source of their troubles. He said Rana's role in finishing the National Conference may even lead the people to forgive him for his other allegedly criminal acts like having a role in the incidents that led to the mysterious death of Haji Yusuf.
Kaul said the diatribe of Rana against PDP is also an attempt to cover up his current activities that have resulted in continued ban on private TV channels in Kashmir. He said the monopoly on the new cabling system has been secured through foul methods that had been protested by cable operators, but Rana's influence is reported to be working against every one else in the business to let his channel make fortunes.
