| Dr. Jitendra asks CM to give up obsession with AFSPA | | 
Jammu, June 14 (Scoop News) –Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister must give up his obsession with the demand for partial revocation of AFSPA in view of the disclosures made by outgoing GoC 15 Corps Lt. General Om Parkash that there are still 325 militants active in the state, out of which 60% are foreign militants. This was stated here today by BJP National Executive Member, State Chief Spokesperson & Member National TV Penalists Dr. Jitendra Singh while commenting on the Intelligence inputs that even though security situation in the state had become stable, it continues to be “fragile”.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the reports about educated youth joining militant ranks is a matter of serious concern which has not only political but also far-reaching social and cultural ramifications and therefore needs to be addressed in a more holistic manner rising above party lines.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said on the one hand the coalition government claims to have rolled out attractive employment schemes for the youth, on the other hand the unemployment in state has further gone as per the recent census and now youth have also started taking to militancy. Is this so because the coalition government has willingly or unwillingly sent out a dangerous message that there is a premium on militancy, he asked and added that the much hyped rehabilitation policy for so-called ex-militants has also supplemented this impression.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also contested the argument that AFSPA could be withdrawn from some of the districts and citing the example of district Samba from where the State Government proposes withdrawal of AFSPA, he said this is one district which has been constantly witnessing infiltration attempts including recent digging of an underground tunnel.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also accused the Union Home Ministry of deliberately sending out contradictory and confusing signals on the issue of AFSPA because while it is convinced by the security forces’ contention to continue with AFSPA, it does not at the same time wish to antagonize the Chief Minister and National Conference with which it is sharing a coalition in the state.
