NC committed to safeguarding peoples’ political rights: Rana

Rajouri/Jammu, July 6 (Scoop News)-Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana on Saturday urged party cadre to gear up for steering National Conference to big victory in 2014 elections, saying that massive mandate was imperative for political stability of Jammu and Kashmir.
“A strong government holds key to satiating political aspirations and developmental needs of the people”, Mr Rana said while addressing prominent party functionaries of Darhal and Rajouri this morning.
The Provincial President said that National Conference is committed to the agenda set for securing and safeguarding political rights of the people besides ensuring faster socio-economic development of the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. To achieve this, he said, the party has to strive hard and play its prominent role by taking the people of three regions along. He said National Conference stands guarantee to the special and unique status of Jammu and Kashmir where every citizen has equal opportunities to prosper and progress. He, however, cautioned the people against elements inimical to unity and single entity of the State, saying they were employing all deceptive tactics to create wedge between various segments of the society.
Stressing the need for further empowering party workers in decision making, Mr Rana said that National Conference has devised a multi-layer mechanism to seek the feedback of people for ensuring overall development and improving delivery system. He asked the party workers to fan out in their areas and help people seek redressal to their grievances.
Without naming any party, the Provincial President cautioned people against drum-beaters who are creating misgivings by unleashing false propaganda to further their political agenda. “They are the elements who believe in dividing people to derive political mileage”, he said and referred to clandestine bonhomie between communal and disruptive forces to undermine the state’s unity.
Referring to the developmental initiatives taken by Omar Abdullah led government during the past over four and half years, Mr Rana said this has unnerved the opposition which find their political space shrinking and hence resort to realpolitik.
Addressing the functionaries, senior party leader and Minister for Planning and Development, Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra said that a massive developmental effort is underway to ensure inclusive development of the three regions with focus on remote and far-flung areas. He said while thrust is being laid on ensuring infrastructural development in key sectors like roads and building, health, education, power and drinking water sectors, the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is also prioritising employment generation schemes.
Mr Sadhotra expected continued support of people in implementing developmental agenda and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to meet developmental requirements of the border areas.
He asked the party workers to unite and fight disruptive and deceptive elements, who were out to hoodwink people by raking up emotive issues.
Speaking on the occasion, former Minister and senior vice president of the party, Peer Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari said that National Conference has galvanized its rank and file in the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri. He said the two districts being the strong bastion of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah’s party will prove Waterloo for the elements banking upon communal and regional card.
Mr Bukhari said that his party workers have further intensified the outreach in far-off and difficult areas so as to help people overcome their problems.
Those present in the meetings included Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, District President Rajouri Bashir Wani, Ex-MP Mirza Abdul Rashid, Ex-MLA Mohd Aslam Khan, Ch.
