NC all set to form next government on its own: Sajjad

Banihal, July 28, (Scoop News)-Confident about National Conference getting decisive mandate in the upcoming assembly elections to form government on its own, the party candidate for Banihal Mr Sajjad Shaheen has said that stable dispensation holds key to faster development and effective implementation of various welfare schemes for poor and those living in remote areas.

“Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has proved how a complete turnaround can be brought about in the overall situation and developmental landscape with sincerity of purpose and active cooperation of the people”, Mr Shaheen said while addressing a huge rally held to felicitate him on being nominated as National Conference candidate from Banihal Assembly Constituency.

Mr Shaheen was taken in a large motor cavalcade from Jawahar tunnel up to Banihal Chowk with people en-route profusely greeting and assuring him fullest support in the elections.

Mr Shaheen expressed his gratitude to the party high command, especially Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah, saying the trust reposed in him will further motivate him to work for the betterment and welfare of the people of Banihal constituency, who have suffered immensely on many counts. He referred to nepotism and favouritism perpetrated by the local MLA and said this has been a big source of disenchantment among the people who crave for equal opportunities of progress and development.

Mr Shaheen complimented the Chief Minister for his wholehearted support in the development of Banihal Tehsil and expressed gratitude for sanctioning two Sub Divisions, two Tehsils, two Community Development blocks, four Niabats a Degree College at Ukharhal besides approving Rs 3 crores for improvement of Neel road, providing 4700 solar home lights in remote areas of Banihal, sanctioning of a Trauma Hispital, four micro - hydel projects and augmentation of several schemes for development of Banihal Tehsil.

He urged the people to strengthen hands of the Chief Minister so that the developmental tempo is carried forward with renewed vigour. He urged the party functionaries to fan out across the Constituency and apprise the people about developmental initiatives taken by Omar led government for their welfare. He said the report card of the Chief Minister during the past over five and half years has been enviable. “Besides assuaging developmental aspirations, Mr Omar Abdullah has been striving hard to satiate their political urges as well”, Mr Shaheen said.

Mr Sajjad Shaheen vowed to strive for bringing transparency into developmental programmes if elected from the constituency. He said he will bring an end to the prevailing nexus between politicians and contractors, which has been proving detrimental to the overall public interest.
