PK concern over recent violence in Kashmir

Jammu, July 28 (Scoop News)- Panun Kashmir (PK) has expressed grave concern over the recent incidents of violence in Kashmir Valley directed against the minority community.

In a meeting held in Jammu under the chairmanship of its president, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, the members including Virender Raina, National Spokesperson, J.L.Kaul, Vice President, Upinder Kaul, Gen. Secretary, Kamal Bagati, Organising Secretary, P.K.Kaul, Sameer Bhat, J.L.Drabu, Vijay Qazi, Ravinder Punjabi, P.N.Pandita and Raj Mohan said that the situation in Kashmir Valley is worsening day by day. The recent attacks at Baltal, stone pelting on the holy shrine of Kheer Bhawani at Tullamula and disturbances at various other places of religious significance hinted towards the culture of intolerance and shrinking secular space in the Valley.

PK Alleged that the State Government has failed in its duties to check the proliferation of such tendencies in the Kashmir, the meeting said that the recent 500 cr package announced by the Union Government must be used immediately to ameliorate the sufferings of the displaced populace and also to improve their living conditions.

They said that the recent declaration of the top Army officers that there are active terrorist groups operating in the valley reflects the ground reality in Kashmir. A number of terrorist groups on the other side of the LOC are trying to sneak in at the first given opportunity under the covering fire of the Pakistan army. Under these circumstances, any talk with the government of Pakistan must address these pertinent issues of concern. Panun Kashmir is of the opinion that any engagement with the secessionist groups in the Kashmir valley has always proved counterproductive and must be avoided. These engagements in the past have failed to meet the expectations of the nation at large. The government must ensure that no space is provided to the secessionist forces to preach and propagate their pernicious ideology under any circumstances.
