| Bill regarding maintenance, welfare of parents, senior citizen introduced | | Srinagar, August 29, (Scoop News)- Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Mir Saifullah, on behalf of the Minister for Social Welfare Minister, introduced “A Bill to provide for more effective provisions for the maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens as guaranteed and recognized under the Constitution and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto (L.A. Bill No. 15 of 2014)”. The Bill has already been published in an extraordinary issue of the Government Gazette.
The aim and objective of the Bill is to provide safety and security to the parents and senior citizens who are ignored or dumped by their kith and kin or near and dear ones.
The State Government, for the purpose, should open Senior Citizen Homes, give financial assistance, medical aid and other facilities to the poor and needy senior citizens, the Bill aims.
