SOS International distribute relief items to rain & flood victims
of Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kalakote & Rajouri

Nowshera (Rajouri),September 22, (Scoop News)- Rajiv Chuni Chairman S. O. S. International - An organization for Displaced Persons from PoK today asked Government to immediately constitute a Joint Committee comprising of members from all political parties, social & religious groups at local level for identifying the real deserving victims and the quantum of relief to be provided to each such victim.
The local administration should hold regular meetings with such committees for smooth & fair distribution of relief, Mr. Chuni said.
Mr. Chuni demanded from the Government for providing immediately one forest tree free of cost at local level to the victims of flash floods or rains for making “Wooden Bhallas” out of this tree to rebuild their roof tops of partially or fully damaged dwellings. He urged administration to provide sufficient number of tents (Not plastic tents) to these houseless victims till dwellings are not repaired or reconstructed.
Mr. Rajiv Chuni, Chairman SOS International made this appeal during distribution of relief among the flood victims assembled at three different places of Mawa in Sunder Bani, Lambheri in Nowshera & at Thakurdwara (Nowshera proper). He narrated that all the relief material items were collected by the volunteers of S. O. S. International at their own from different individuals & associations of the State besides 400 blankets from Indian Society of Blood Transfusion & Immunohamatology (ISBTI) National Body through Dr. T. R. Raina, 300 blankets were arranged by the Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital, Ambphala, 1200 packets containing food items through Ravi Puri, Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu.
The relief camp at Thakurdwara (Nowshera) was inaugurated by Sri-Sri 1008 Mahamandleshwar Santosh Dass Soni Ji Maharaj in the presence of Arshad Mehmood Sarpanch-Dandesar, Harbans Lal Sarpanch-Nonihal, Balwant Roy Sarpanch-Mangla Devi-A, Jas Pal Sarpanch-Deeing, Chaman Lal Sarpanch-Manghot, Inder Jeet Singh Sarpanch-Hanjara Thakra, Kashmir Singh Sarpanch-Dharat, Rattan Singh Sarpanch-Nonial Lower, Badri Nath Sarpanch-Kalsian, Paramjit Singh Sarpanch-Qila Darhal, Mohd. Iqbal Sarpanch-Rajal-B, Babu Ram Sharma Sarpanch-Rajal-A, Roshan Lal Sharma Sarpanch-Bhagnoti, Ashok Kumar Panch-Handan, Satya Devi Naib Sarpanch-Dandesar, Sukhdev Singh Sarpanch-Langar, Karam Chand Sarpanch-Sehal, Suram Chand Sarpanch-Gagrote, Roshan Lal Panch-Handan, Tilak Raj Naib Sarpanch-Hasnjana Khakra, Mohinder Paul Sudan Sarpanch-Lamberi (East), Madan Lal Choudhary Sarpanch-Lamberi (Lower), Zubair Ahmed Sarpanch-Lamberi (Upper), Bindu Kumar Panch-Choki, Capt Joginder Singh Sarpanch-Sayoni, Capt Mohan Singh Sarpanch-Saranu & Sangeeta Sharma Naib Sarpanch Bhagnoti..
The relief material containing blankets, biscuit packs, ladies shawls & food packets were distributed among 1200 worst flood affected families of Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kalakote & Rajouri areas who were identified and assembled by the Sarpanches and panches of the area.
Mr. Chuni lashed out at the state & Central Government over the ambiguity in the distribution of relief material at the ground zero. Mr. Chuni pointed out that despite no shortage of relief material from all over the country, there appears to be certain lapses in the distribution of the relief material at ground-level in flood hit areas of Rajouri & Poonch districts.
Those who were involved in collection of relief material and distribution besides identifying the victims at Ground Zero included Lalit Kumar, Roshan Lal, Vijay Guru, Kewal Sharma, Sanjay Kohli Bishan Bakshi, J. P. Singh, Rocky, Pappi, Vijay Sharma & Rakesh Sharma.
Mr. Chuni thanked all those Sarpanches & Panches of Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kalakote & Rajouri who were involved in identifying the real victims to make this event of small contribution of S. O. S. International a successful one and hoped that state administration would also involve such dedicated persons in the distribution of relief material.
