Khanna said that the people of twin border districts have suffered a lot as over hundred people have died, thousands rendered homeless, crops totally destroyed, roads and connecting roads of far flung areas been washed away, means of communication badly affected. He said, “Although the union government is extending every kind of help for relief and rehabilitation, our national and State leadership also tightened their laces and working for their rehabilitation, relief and in this connection various initiatives have been taken including Apadha Rahat Kosh, relief collection programmes, regular visits of unin ministers to access loss etc”.

Raising apprehension over the distribution of relief by the State Government, he mentioned that since relief and rehabilitation is a state subject so it’s the duty of State Govt to ensure equitable distribution of relief material in entire J&K but it’s unfortunate that these twin districts are alleged to be ignored by the Government in terms of adequate relief and rehabilitation operations. He lauded the role of army and air force in these areas for undertaking massive rescue operation and also restoring means of communication.
