DUJ demands risk cover for media persons


New Delhi,October 21, (Scoop News)- The Delhi Union of Journalists welcomes the gesture of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) which has released 2000 Euros from its Safety Fund to the family of the late Shafat Sidiq.

Sidiq, a photo journalist with the Dainik Jagaran was killed while on duty during the recent floods in Kashmir.

In the light of increasing cases of deaths of media persons during assignments, it is incumbent that all managements provide for risk insurance cover to those sent on hazardous missions or in areas of disaster.

The DUJ also demands that governments at the state and the centre should have a exigency fund to meet such situations.
