| SVEEP progs, rallies held at Poonch | |  Poonch,November 25, (Scoop News)- To achieve the objectives of increasing voter awareness and turnout by educating, motivating and facilitating voters, a series of impressive Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programmes and rallies were organized under the guidance of District Election Officer M H Malik.
Nodal Officer, SVEEP, Dr. Zakir Hussain along with SVEEP team including Prof. Anwar Khan, Prof. Haroon Rathore and others have been organizing SVEEP programmes and rallies in different institutions like HSS Chandak, HSS Harni, HSS Dhargloon, GDC Mendhar, HSS Lathoong, HSS Chandimarh, and HSS Bhatadhurian in which Panches, Sapanches, ASHA and Aanganwari workers besides hundreds of students participated.
Meanwhile, a scintillating cultural programme-cum-mushaira for electoral awareness at ITI Poonch was organized, attended among others by the DEO and RO, Haveli, Shokat Mahmood Malik, wherein prominent poets and cultural artists enthralled and motivated the audience for greater participation in the forthcoming Assembly Elections to ensure a stronger democracy.
While appreciating the poets and cultural artist for conveying the message of greater electoral participation in a unique way, Dr. Zakir revealed the main objectives of SVEEP as to promote greater awareness amongst youth and students about electoral process and to seek their cooperation in facilitating voter registration. “Private media has also been at the forefront in disseminating the message of SVEEP so as to increase people’s awareness regarding electoral participation’’, said Dr. Zakir.
