NNO extends Sikh support to BJP

Jammu, December 18, (Scoop News)- At a meeting held by Nirbho Nirvar Organisation at its head office at Gadigarh and presided over by its Chairman Sardar Daljeet Singh, the members of the organization discussed the basic long pending problems of the Sikh community, which is a minority and scattered throughout the state of J&K.
The problems with which Sikhs in the state are burdened with were enumerated at the meeting, including denial of representation in the State Legislature, refusal of minority status to them, non-recognition of Punjabi language, not adhering to the provisions and the mandate of J&K Sikh Gurudwara Prabandak Committee Act by not conducting the Sikh Gurudawar elections for last 10 years etc.
While addressing the meeting Sr. Daljeet Singh said that the Sikh Community has been always denied whatever was due to it as per the law of the land notwithstanding the fact that the Sikhs had always been at the forefront for the defence of the motherland. The Sikhs had also rendered significant contribution in the freedom struggle of the country as also abolition of kingship in the state. The essence of democracy is due representation in the governance of the state and the country and this has been consistently denied to the Sikhs since many decades. In schools, Arabic, Persian etc are being taught while as Punjabi finds no recognition by the government and is not offered even as a optional language. Similarly, Sikhs stand deprived of their right to manage the affairs of their Gurudwaras and since last ten years no elections have been conducted. These election are required to be conducted by the government as per the law.
Daljeet Singh further said that political parties that have ruled the J&K state have always exploited Sikhs as their vote bank. Time has come for the Sikhs to junk the past practices and support Narendra Modi for his genuine endeavour to ensure progress and development of all.
While fully agreeing and supporting the Chairman of the committee, its President Sr. Harjeet Singh said that it is high time that the Sikh community also becomes the part of universal development and progress effort of the Narendra Modi led BJP government and support BJP candidates in the state elections, so that Sikhs receive what is their due. The Sikhs do not demand anything out of the way but only want equality and sympathetic treatment by the government. Sikhs have always excelled in whatever field they have worked and there is no reason that Sikhs will not overcome the difficulties that they are confronted with on account of the opportunistic and step motherly treatment meted out to them by the Congress, NC and PDP till date.
At the meeting it was unanimously decided to appeal the Sikh Community to support BJP candidates in the state election.
The prominent members who were also present in the meeting were Kuldeep Singh Kuku, Surjeet Singh, Joginder Singh.
