Training prog on Soil Health Card Scheme under NMSA inaugurated | | Jammu, March 03, (Scoop News)-A two days training programme on Soil Health Card Scheme under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) was inaugurated by Director Agriculture, Jammu Dr S. S. Jamwal. While speaking on the occasion, Dr Jamwal said that the training is being provided to the staff to devise an effective mechanism for issuance of soil health cards to all the farmers of the division within three years. He also said that under the scheme farmers will be provided with actual nutrient status of their land covering major, secondary and micro-nutrients value along with soil reaction (pH value), electrical conductivity and Organic Carbon status of the soil. As per norms the soil samples will be taken from a grid of 2.5 ha in irrigated areas and 10 ha in un-irrigated areas with GPS location. Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), Jammu, Ashok Malhotra while interacting with the trainees said that the soil health management based on application of balanced dose of fertilizers is important to increase the production and productivity in agriculture. The technical resource persons of the department imparted training for collection of soil samples from a particular grid using Global Positioning System (GPS), different parameters of analysis, role of different plant nutrients for plant growth, deficiency symptoms of nutrient deficiencies etc. During lab visit the trainees were given demonstration on use of equipments like Spectro-photometer, Flame Photometer and Atomic Absorption Spectro-photometer. ... |
