Chander Parkash stresses on providing conducive environment for industrial growth
Jammu, March 04, (Scoop News)-Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr Chander Parkash reviewed the working of the Industries & Commerce Department with the top officers of the department at civil secretariat today .This was the first interaction of the Minister with the officers of the Department after assuming charge.
During the meeting the Minister emphasized on working with honesty and integrity to ensure accountability and transparency in the system for the development of industries in the State. He said that the industrial unit holders should not face any difficulty in getting allotments, permissions, clearances and incentives and the department should simplify the procedures and eliminate un-necessary formalities which only lead to delays. He insisted on efficiency and expeditious disposal of cases at all levels in the Directorates of I&C and the DICs.
He stated that he is familiar with the ground situation and the difficulties being faced by the common man and entrepreneurs and that he is determined to provide conducive environment for the development of industries .
Mr Parkash hoped that with the simplification of procedures and removal of bottlenecks in the way of setting up and running of industry, more investment will flow into the State . He called for setting up of large industries to facilitate the growth of ancillary units which would then provide employment to the unemployed youth. Minister also emphasized on the need for setting up of additional Handicrafts Training Centers in those areas where such centers do not exist so that the unemployed youth particularly the girls are trained and are also receive some stipend
Financial Commissioner, I&C Mr Khurshid Ahmed Ganai apprised the Minister about the working of the department and the major policy initiatives under consideration. He informed that the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and formulation of the new Industrial Policy for the State are the main priorities of the Industries Department. He also referred to the shortage of land in the industrial estates and said that there is a need to develop more industrial estates in the State which would in turn help in the establishment of more industrial units and generation of employment.
Later, the Minister inspected the J&K Cement Ltd., Plant at Samba and directed to ensure commissioning of the plant within one month. He was accompanied to Samba by MD, SIDCO and MD, JK Cements Ltd.
