Give up maximalist attitude and take bold political initiatives :CPI(M)

Jammu, March 30 (Scoop News)- Addressing the concluding session of 10th State Conference, Member Central Committee CPI(M) and MP, Lok Sabha, Mohd.Saleem said that neo-liberalization of economy has played a havoc since the days of its implementation in 1990’s, elaborating that in the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP used communal card to the hilt coupled with false promises of development and ache din aaney walay hain, but 10 months performance of the government reveals that the MNCs and Corporate houses of the country have immensely benefited at the cost of general poor masses, adding that the interests of these big business houses were taken care of by the present Modi dispensation by mortgaging the huge natural resources and public sector shares were sold to them on throw away prices. Referring to J&K situation, he said that during recently held assembly elections, BJP in Jammu and PDP in Kashmir exploited the emotive sentiments to garner votes have once again polarized the electorate which is bound to prove fatal for the unity of the state and integrity of the country, lamenting that these parties consolidated their constituencies on arousing public sentiments, least keeping in view the communal harmony and unity of the state. He emphasized that CPI(M) has to play a responsible role in uniting the progressive, secular-democratic forces to organize a continuous movement against these arrogant and parochial trends and this conference pledges to strengthen secular-democratic forces to pressurize the govt. to take action against the sections inimical to the unity of the country.
He demanded that govt. must act promptly to provide succor to the people who have suffered immensely due to recent floods, especially the growers/farmers; workers in unorganized sector, scheme workers be covered under social security net, besides formulating comprehensive policy for the unemployed youth in the state.
The Political resolution adopted in the conference urged upon Govt.of India to take bold initiatives and enter into a serious and result-oriented dialogue with Pakistan for resolving all issues including the most contentious issue i.e. Kashmir. Both the governments must give up maximalist attitude and try to come to an understanding which can help to reach a workable solution of this long pending vexed problem, Everybody must realize that much time and human resources have been wasted and people subjected to the huge sufferings by delaying in finding out acceptable solution to this problem. Does this attitude serve anybody in the region? The answer is it only has aggravated the day-to-day problems of the common people in the whole region while as the issue of livelihood and other pressing demands of the population are mounting more and more and resources are spent on arms and defence purposes. It will be in the interest of whole population in the region and the respective leadership of two countries to give up rigidities and initiate a process which can lead us to minimizing differences and help us in identifying the areas of agreement. CPI(M) has been firmly demanding that Govt.of India must restore the eroded autonomy of J&K and within the ambit of the unity of the state, each region of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh must be provided regional autonomy. Any delay in this process and any attempt to divide the state on religious lines is fraught with dangerous consequences.
The conference adopted resolutions on Rehabilitation of flood victims, Agriculture/Horticulture, unemployment, price rise, privatization of power sector, migrants, democratic and trade union rights, on communalism and on scheme workers.
Conference elected 4 delegates for 21st Party Congress to be held at Vishakhapatnam(AP) from 14th to 19th April. The Conference elected 22 members State Committee with G.N.Malik as State Secretary....
