Steps taken for promotion of Punjabi language: Priya Sethi
Punjabi being taught in 18 Degree Colleges of the State

Jammu, March 30 (Scoop News)-Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Ms. Priya Sethi while replying to a question by Charanjit Singh informed the Legislative Council that Government has taken a number of steps for promotion of Punjabi language.


The Minister said several steps including publication of literacy general “Sheeraza” annual anthology books, autobiography etc; grant of subsidy for publication, best book award of Rs. 51000, organization of seminars, musharias, literary conferences, writers camp, play secret competition , theatre festivals, folk festival, financial assistance to literacy and cultural organization and to outstanding writers etc. have been initiated.
Ms. Priya said that Punjabi has been introduced as a subject at the high and higher secondary level and is being taught in 18 Degree Colleges of the State. She said no teacher has been detached from any of the school or college and no post stands abolished or converted into post of other subjects.


Intervening in the discussion, the Minister for Education Naeem Akthar, said that rationalization of student teacher ratio is being done while appointing persons as Lectures. He said if need arises academic arrangements are also being made.
