After Tripura's withdrawal, Hurriyat (M) ridicules authorities for failing to get AFSPA revoked in Kashmir
expresses gratitude to OIC

Srinagar, May 28, (Scoop News)-Terming the decision to withdraw Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the Indian state of Tripura after remaining enforced for 18 years as a bold decision, the Hurriyat spokesman on Thursday said it has become clear that draconian laws like AFSPA are the weapons of crudeness with the state and its implementation is purely aimed at being insensitive to the people.

The spokesman in a statement said the revocation of AFSPA from Tripura should serve as an eye opener for the Jammu and Kashmir ruling class who make loud claims about the revocation of this draconian law from Kashmir, but in reality has no interest or intentions to do so.

The spokesman said many governments came and pledged to revoke AFSPA from the state but all these pledges and claims proved to be blatant lies made just for public consumption.

Welcoming the statement of OIC secretary General Ayad bin Madni during his opening statement at the 42nd Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers at Kuwait whereby he said Kashmir issue should be solved through meaningful dialogue between all the stakeholders, the spokesman said OIC has always advocated the solution of Kashmir issue.

He appealed the international community that knowing the sensitivity attached to Kashmir issue, they should play their role in solving it on urgent basis.
