Sports channelize youth energy into constructive positive endeavors: Priya Sethi
Jammu, July 05 (Scoop News)-Jammu Tawi Summer T-20 tournament concluded here today.
Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi and senior leader Yudhvir Sethi attended final match of the tournament and distributed prizes among the winner, runners up and participants.
The tournament was jointly orgnaised by J&K Cricket Council and Jammu Tawi Sports Cricket Club. Total 16 teams participated in the fortnight long tournament. Jammu Cricket Club won the final match and Tawi Sports Club was runner up.
Appreciating efforts of the organizers, Priya Sethi said channelizing energy into constructive sports and physical fitness is need of the hour and organisations which are promoting sports need encouragement at all levels. She said the nation is crazy about the game of cricket and youth easily get attracted to this sport.
“In today’s world it is very important that we keep our younger generations involved in sports and other physical activities so that they do not fall prey to the menace of drugs,” she stressed.
Underlining commitment of the government to nurture and promote sporting talent in the state, the Minister said that youth and students of the state have proved their mettle in sports, studies and other fields at national and international forums. She said the government would provide all necessary infrastructures to promote sports and expert coaching would be made available to the budding sportspersons of the state.
“Our Prime Minister Narinder Modi always stresses on channelizing youth energy into nation building and the state government would ensure that all required facilities are made available to our younger generations who pursue sports professionally,” she added.
Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir congratulated the winners and appreciated the team spirit of all those who participated in the tourney. He gave special accolades to the children who had taken active part in their respective category in the tournament.
“Our youngsters are second to none in talent and we are proud of those who have left a dent in the field of singing, sports and education,” he added.
Later, the J&K Cricket Council members projected demands with regard to the office and hall of the council.
The Minister took note of the demands and issued directions for formulating estimates for the desired works. She assured the council that required funding would be made available from the CDF for the immediate requirements.
Principal GGM Science College Dr. Satinder Singh, Prominent citizens, Sportsperson, cricketers and members of the J&K Cricket council were present during the function.
