Don’t destroy public property: YFN Chief

Jammu, August 02 (Scoop News)- Youth for Nation’s National President Nimrandeep Singh appealed public to participate into the ongoing protest for “AIIMS for Jammu”.

In a statement Singh said protests are part of the democratic process. They enhance and strengthen our democracy. But , we don’t have to developed a culture of violent and destructive protests. These kinds of protests are anti-progressive because they destroy our own facilities.

He Said , how does burning/destroying a vehicles, police station , library , business showrooms ,Shopping Malls, shops down benefit a community? It doesn’t.
There is no justification for burning or destroying public & private properties that are there to serve the common masses, no matter how angry and disgruntled the masses may be. As a matter of fact, it is criminal act to destroy the very facilities that are there to benefit and service communities.
Do any of our leaders condone such acts? If they don’t, then why do they let their supporters to do that?
Now, when they turned violent and destructive, police are forced to use tear shells , rubber bullets to deter protesters from causing more damage. In the process, people get injured and even in worst cases they got killed as well.
The fact that our police are not trained to control crowds makes things worse. Police act on their instincts. If they feel their lives are under threat, they shoot to save themselves. That’s the reality of the situation.
“We need to start looking after our facilities and jealously guard them from being destroyed. If we can’t then what is the difference between the stone pelters of Kashmir and a proud Jammuiets / responsible Citizen of India,” Singh Said.

He said that we need to speak to each other as leaders and masses in order to find creative ways to resolve the AIIMS for Jammu issue.
