3-day passport seva camp inaugurated by CEC Leh Spalbar

Leh,August 27, (Scoop News)-The three-day Passport Seva camp being organized for the people of Leh and Kargil districts was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Leh Rigzin Spalbar today in presence of District Magistrate Leh Saugat Biswas and Joint Secretary (PSP) & Chief Passport Officer Muktesh K. Pardeshi at the Tourist Reception Centre Leh.
CEC, after listening to their procedure of assistance to the general public for new and renewed passport, expressed happiness over the conducting of such camp and further urged Chief Passport Officer Pardeshi to arrange for a space in the premises of the building for the on-line submission of forms for the convenient of the general public which otherwise they have to get it done from a ‘Khidmad’ centre – a cyber café located near the TIC building. Pardeshi here assured CEC of every possible arrangement.
Talking to media, Pardeshi said that an individual has to bring along an identity card or certificate, date of birth certificate, residence proof, and two-passport size photographs and the fee amount at the time of filling up of the on-line form. He further said that an amount of Rs. 100/- per person will be charged at the time of filling up of the form at the Khidmad centre to those who wish to file the on-line form at this center.
Once the entire process of document checking, photography, and fingerprint is done here, the new applicant’s document will be sent for police verification whereas the document for renewed passport will be cross checked with the previous record and then the applicant can expect their passport in almost three months’ time, added Pardeshi.
Pardeshi further says that due to limited number of passport seva kendras, such camps are held which acts as the camp office that gives the final decision of approval or disapproval. Similarly, in the interest of the people of Leh and Kargil districts, this camp has been organized in Leh which would save them the trip to Srinagar. He further said that the government has already approved a small centre for Ladakh and that he has come to look for the space and until then such passport seva camps will be held and the next camp is likely to be held during the Ladakh Festival in the month of September where people from remote villages can get their documents submitted for passport at that camp as well as enjoy the festival.
