Dr. Jitendra Singh promises Hi-Tech Media Centre for Press Club of Jammu | | Jammu, September 6 (Scoop News)-Minister of State in Prime Ministers office, Dr. Jitendra Singh today promised to set up a state of art and hi-tech Media Centre for Press Club of Jammu. Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (Independent Charge), Minister of State for Prime Ministers Office Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of State, Dr Jitendra Singh, while addressing Meet the Press , organised by Press Club of Jammu, promised a hi-tech Media Centre on the pattern of National Media Centre, New Delhi. Reacting to the demands made by newly elected management committee of Press Club of Jammu regarding construction of Media Centre, which will include, an auditorium, conference hall, video conferencing facility and coffee house, minister said that he will soon talk to the concerned ministry for the construction of the same. Recalling his old days at Press Club of Jammu, he said that he has seen this institution growing with the passage of time and he has been a part of this growth. He recalled days how a coffee house was transformed into a full fledged Press Club. He, however, expressed his satisfaction that this Club has now grown into one of the biggest institution in the country. Dr. Singh appreciated successive management committees of the Club for taking sincere efforts in the development of this Club. He said that lot more needed to be done for the further growth of this Club, which caters needs of entire state. Ashwani Kumar, President of the Club, in his address highlighted the need of Media Centre in the Club. He said that the Club not only caters needs of Jammu based journalist but also takes care of Valley and Ladakh based journalists. Ashwani Kumar said that there is a immense need to build this Media Centre as the media has witnessed tremendous change in past few years. He said that this state of art media centre will be first of its kind in northern India. He also presented a shawl to the minister. Zorawar Singh Jamwal, secretary general, Press Club of Jammu, after presenting memento to the minister, in his address highlighted the activities of Press Club of Jammu. He also endorsed the need of building the Media Centre at Press Club of Jammu. Dr. Singh was welcomed by Treasurer, Press Club of Jammu, Dinesh Manhotra while executive committee members Ajay Bachloo, Vishal Bharti, Surjit Singh and Dinesh Mahajan presented a flower bouquet. For the first time, students of Indian Institute of Mass Communication, were also present in the program. Minister also interacted one to one with the budding journalists. asked about their experiences about the program. ... |
