Omar should remember that Speaker is head of the Assembly: BJP

Jammu, October 6 (Scoop News)-Omar Abdullah has had his guns trained on the Speaker all this week accusing him as biased. It is both shocking as well as shameful that the NC legislator has been demeaning the office of the Speaker without any sense of discretion.

State Spokesperson for BJP, Arun Kumar Gupta, expressed regret over the proceedings of the ongoing Autumn-session of the Legislative Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir. He reminded the Beerwah Legislator to not disrespect the chair of the speaker.

“It is surprising that Omar Abdullah, who belongs to the party that has ruled the state for the longest time, has not practiced propriety while either addressing the Speaker in the Assembly or for that matter disrespecting the stature of Speaker’s chair.”
“It has not happened before that the speaker’s authority was undermined with a perverse accusation of association with a particular organization. Omar should be reminded that Speaker is the head of the Assembly and not a member or representative of a party,” said Gupta.

Gupta emphasized on the fact that Omar was only too frustrated not being in power at either the centre or the state.
“After being out of power as the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has been a hard-critic in the attempts to revive his party. Criticism by opposition is definitely acceptable but it has to remain in the realm of protocol and dignity. If Omar’s intention is to put NC’s jammed wheels into motion, blaming anything connected to the RSS is not going to work,” Gupta advised.

The state spokesperson also reminded the National Conference that it needs to respect the position of the speaker in the house. He said,
“It is shameful that the NC has plunged to the level of dishonouring the Speaker Kavinder Gupta by calling him and anyone associated with the RSS as 'Gaddar'. Being an opposition, their job is to question the government and not throw baseless charges at the speaker. If they want to be a respectable opposition, they need to respect the speaker first. The chair of the speaker is above their petty suspicions.”
