Chief Minister to inaugurate the seminar on Traffic Management organised by ISLA

Srinagar, October 15,(Scoop News)- Institution of Studies, Learning and Analysis (ISLA) is organizing a seminar on “Traffic Management” on Saturday, 17th of October-2015 at SKICC Srinagar. Chief Minister J&K, Mufti Mohammad Syed will inaugurate the seminar, this was stated by Director ISLA S. M. Sahai (ADGP Armed) at a press conference here today.
Director ISLA said that J&K State has been facing problems of proper traffic management. Of late, the capital cities i.e. Srinagar and Jammu have seen upsurge in the vehicular traffic and the rising numbers of vehicles coupled with inadequate infrastructure are causing high traffic congestion in the cities and the National highways.
He said that the management of traffic has become a hot issue and the masses are suffering because of the frequent jams especially in the two capitals and the highway connecting them.
In order to discuss the traffic problems in the State, Institution of Studies, Learning and Analysis ( ISLA) is organizing this seminar.
The seminar is scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister who has consented to be the Chief Guest on the occasion. The inauguration will take place in the morning.
Shri Sahai said that ISLA is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered with Registrar of Societies, J&K Government and promoted by J&K Police.
Shri Sahai said that, we have studied the traffic in the capital cities through drones and the documentary that has been prepared will be shown during the seminar so that all the stakeholders get an idea of the traffic in J&K and the problems that lead to frequent congestion.
There will be three business sessions in the seminar during which discussions will take place between experts, panelists and other stake holders so that both short and long term measures could be visualized to overcome the problem of traffic congestion, he said.
Director ISLA said that the first session of seminar will be on the topic Infrastructure and Shri Sudeep Gupta, Deputy General Manager (DGM), Rail India Technical and Economic Services Ltd. (RITES) will be the expert during the session joined by other panelists. The other panelists of this session are Er. Satish Kumar Razdan, Chief Engineer PWD, R&B Kashmir. Shri Iftikhar Ahmad, Chief Town Planner Srinagar.
In second session, the topic will be Safety and during this session Dr. Rohit Baluja, President Indian Road Transport Education (IRTE) and Director College of Traffic Management, Faridabad would be the expert. The other panelists of this session are Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Project Director AIDS Control Society, J&K, Shri M Ashraf, Former Director General Tourism, Expert on Road Engineering from NIT Hazratbal.
During third session discussion will take place on the topic of Regulation and Dr. P. S. Pasricha, Former Director General of Police, Maharashtra will be the expert. The other panelists of this session are G. N. War, President Private School Association Kashmir Province, Arun Joshi, Journalist, Alok Kumar, IPS, DIG Traffic Kashmir
Director ISLA said that the seminar would witness the participation of all stake holders related to management of traffic in J&K viz Engineers, Police, Town Planners, Traders, Civil Society Activists, Stake Holders of Tourism, School Administration, Doctors, Transporters, Students, Hawkers, Roadside vendors etc. so that they can come up with suggestions and recommendations to help us in streamlining the traffic in the state.
In valedictory session, Minister for Public Works, Floriculture, Gardens and Parks Jenab Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari will be the Chief Guest while as Mohammad Ashraf Mir, MoS for I&C, PDD, H&UDD and Pawan Kumar Gupta, MoS for Finance and IT will be Guests of Honour. The valedictory function is scheduled at 04:15 p.m he added.
He further said that in valedictory, the reports of all the three sessions would be presented so that measures to streamline the traffic in the state could the enumerated.
