Army in collaboration with GDC Budhal holds a seminar | 250 students and others participate |
Rajouri, August 26, (Scoop News)-A seminar on `Custom and Traditions : A Need to Preserve Heritage of Jammu and Kashmir' was organised by the Army in coordination with Government Degree College at Budhal, a defence spokesman said on Friday.
He said the aim of the seminar was to spread awareness about customs and traditions of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the need to preserve the rich heritage. Mr Mohd Illiaz, lecturer, Department of History, Government Degree College, Budhal was the speaker.
Highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, especially areas south of Pir Panjal ranges, Mr Mohd Illiaz highlighted the various facets of way of life of Gujjars and Bakkarwals including their cultural ethos, values, customs which is peculiar to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the spokesman added.
He said dwelling into the history, he said the culture of Jammu and Kashmir, though, has traces of historical rulers of the state but has largely been influenced by Sufism, which gives it the unique identity of `Kashmiriyat'.
Speaking on the subject, he highlighted the importance of the present generation to understand and carry forward the importance of customs and traditional heritage of the state in maintaining cultural diversity in the face of growing globalisation, spokesman said.
The seminar was attended by 250 students other than sarpanches of nearby villages, Ex Servicemen, teachers, officials of the civil administration and Army.
Addressing the seminar, Army officials highlighted the role of village elders, parents, teachers and educational institutions to educate the youth about the importance of history, customs and traditional heritage of the state, which binds peoples of all states in one unique bond and serves as a true example of secularism. ... |
