ITBP grabs Ice Hockey Championship Cup, trounces LSRC in a lone self goal
exciting match captivates people.




Leh (Ladakh), February , (Scoop News)-The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) won the final match against Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC)-Red by scoring a lone goal in a penalty stroke after 70 minute long match followed by extra time play didn’t yield any result.


“It was quite an exciting match, both teams contested each other’s manoeuvring with perfect techniques,” said Tsering Namgyal, who watched the match being played in an open air rink at Karzoo on Sunday along with his friends braving icy winds circulating between snow clad mountains. However, mesmerizing tunes played by LSRC band warmed up the audience present around the rink during the interval and prize distribution period.


He said both the teams demonstrated the skill, reflexes, timing and prefect technique during the match. “The match became exciting one when both sides failed to score a goal in their stipulated time, then it (time) was extended by another 15 minutes but without any result and finally it were the penalty strokes that decided the match,” Namgyal added.


Over a dozen of teams from twin districts of the Ladakh region, Leh and Kargil, participated in the 10th CEC Ice Hockey Championship-2017 Cup and organized by the Sports and Youth Services and Ladakh Winter Sports in Leh. Ten day long championship fixture concluded on February 5.


Chief Executive Councilor, Dr Sonam Dawa, lauded the players who participated in the tournament and assured them of promoting the games in the region by developing necessary infrastructure for players....
