Authorities maltreat people of Zanskar, erratic helicopter service to Padum causes immense inconvenience to locals
Padum, February 8, (Scoop News)-Reports emanating from Zanskar (Ladakh) suggest that passengers bound towards Leh from Zanskar are suffering due to lack to proper helicopter service from Zanskar to Leh and back.

Several Leh bound passengers including one was a pregnant lady, have complained of not having a regular helicopter service during winter months.

All surface routes leading to Leh from Zanskar remain closed during winter season and only way to reach Leh is either via waking through Chaddar route (frozen river) or waiting for helicopter service to operate.

As usually passenger bounds towards Leh in which one is a pregnant lady, who was waiting for helicopter service to airport them complained that, every day the laison officer for the helicopter service informed that all the passengers to reach to helipad which is about 4 kilometre from Padum, administrative headwaters of Zanskar sub division, early in the morning and at after noon they would announce to cancel the same without any reason.

Passenger complained that due lack of proper administration from the district and state govt, the service is entirely on the mercy of the pilots and depends on their mood.

The passengers also complained about the step motherly treatment to them by the current govt. As they said that If our state Chief Minister can arrange helicopter for the Mumbai tourists on the request of Chief Minister of Maharashtra then why cant she arrange few sorties of helicopter for her own people who are suffering badly due to the reasons everyone knows.

Passangers stranded at Zanskar, a pragnent lady among them. Passenger said that for last 7 days over 20 local pasengers including pregnant lady and kids are walking about six km with baggage to helipad and than back to their homes as helicopter service is repeatedly canceled due reason best known to them.

Last week a helicopter came to lift 16 tourists from Mumbai were lifted for free of charge and left the locals behind allowing common people suffers here....
