| ICSC observes International Mother Language Day | | Srinagar, February 22, (Scoop News)-In connection with ‘International Mother Language Day’ a function was held today at Islamia College of Science and Commerce (ICSC) in collaboration with H. N Wanchoo Trust.
Principal ISCS Prof. (Dr) G. M. Tibet Baqal, Social Activists, noted poets, members of media fraternity, besides students and other concerned were present at the function.
On the occasion various speakers highlighted the importance of observing the Day which is aimed to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism across the World.
The speakers said educational institutions have an important role in preserving the mother language. During the function various historical factors responsible for the minimal usage of Kashmiri language in day to day life were deliberated upon and audience were sanitized about the importance of upholding tradition and use of mother tongue in maintaining identity and preservation of heritage.
