DPs, Adhar Card Seekers facing harassment:Ravinder

Nowshera, March 18, (Scoop News)-Former MLC and chief spokesperson of state Congress party, Ravindder Sharma has said that displaced persons of 1947 from POJK and adhar card seekers in Nowshera – Sunderbani are running from pillar to post but Govt. is totally indifferent to their plight.

Sharma, addressed series of meetings during his two days tour of Nowshera-Sunderbani. He met the people of all walks of life and listen their day today problems. .

Addressing public meeting at Nowshera today, he said that the Govt. has failed on all fronts and the general public is struggling for the basic amenities of life like ration, drinking water and power.

There is great resentment amongst the people against the Govt. especially pick and choose on political considerations in providing basic necessities of water, power, ration etc.

Sharma said that the PDS system of the State Govt. has totally collapsed. It has miserably failed to provide ration to the people even after increasing the price at the rate of Rs.5/- per Kg.

He said the Govt is talking for linking adhar cads to the ration but it is unfortunate that 40% population of Rajouri district is without adhar cards.

The process of preparing adhar cards is faulty as there is heavy rush and the people especially the old, women and sick people have to stand in queues for hours together for their turn while several new conditions are being sought for enrolment, Sharma said.

On the issue of refugees, he said said that Govt. has all the details of the DPs from POJK since their migration and subsequent allotments of lands/quarters and pending claims etc but unreasonable instruction being issued in order to keep them engaged which is resulting into avoidable sufferings to them.
He said that the Govt wants to prolong the process of disbursement of relief, as it has no intention to grant full package as recommended by NC-Congress Govt.

Sharma said PRO Jammu office has given dates of September /October for collecting certified copies of documents sought by applicants, for complying with the conditions to get the meagre relief amount, while the government does not intend to provide anything else to them.

The government is totally unsympathetic to their hardships in fulfilling the unreasonable documentations.

Sharma expressed concern over the neglect of sports stadium as the youth congress leaders demanded that the sports stadium at Nowshera be completed and properly maintained for involving youth in sports activities, as presently it is in a bad condition and become grazing ground for animals.

Prominent among those who addressed the meeting include Som Nath, Ch. Tara Chand, H.L. Bakshi, Subash Kapoor, Jagdish Sawhney, S. Isher Singh, S. Rajinder Singh, Sub. Karam Chand (Ex-Sarpanchs) , Capt. Ravinder Singh, Chander Bakshi, Ramji Dass Sharma, Harbaksh Singh.
Several Youth leaders joined the Congress party led by Amjad Khan under the leadership of Sumit Singh president AYC, Manik Raina, Amit Kumar Sayal, Advocate Gourav Sharma, Sumit Bali, Dheeraj Sharma and Kashap Kumar also addressed the gathering....
