NC-Congress has come together to defeat evil forces - NC
NC leaders address commemorative convention at DH Pora

Srinagar, March 18, (Scoop News)-National Conference on Saturday said that its alliance with Congress in the by-elections for the Srinagar and Anantnag by-elections was on the basis of an intention to defeat evil forces and their affiliates in the State and not allow any division of democratic voices to benefit a ruling alliance that has wreaked havoc with the State. Addressing a commemorative convention of party workers and activists at DH Pora in Kulgam today, Senior Party Leader and Former Minister Sakina Ittoo said National Conference would wholeheartedly support the Congress candidate from Anantnag Parliamentary Segment to send out a strong message to the PDP-BJP Alliance.

“Our decision to fight these by-elections together is based on our greater commitment to the ideals of peace, amity, dignity and brotherhood – ideals that have been threatened by an opportunistic PDP-BJP Alliance that has left no stone unturned to spread discord and disharmony in the State. More recently the PDP-BJP Government of Mehbooba Mufti lorded over an unprecedented persecution of our youth that resulted in hundreds of them losing their eye-sight. A government that can be so ruthless so as to snatch eye-sight from our blossoming buds has no right to rule. It is based on this spirit of resilience that we decided to fight these elections together”, Sakina Ittoo said while addressing the gathering.

The National Conference Leader and Former Minister lashed out at the PDP-BJP Alliance for pushing the youth into a corner of despair, anguish and hopelessness and said such policies had resulted in an unprecedented level of alienation in the entire Valley, especially South Kashmir. “What is happening in South Kashmir today is the direct result of the PDP-BJP Government’s injustices and its policy of persecuting the youth. They haven’t even spared old women and children and continue to watch with sadistic pleasure as even young toddlers and infants are now losing their lives to ‘stray bullets’. This is not the ‘change’ that Mehbooba Ji had promised and this certainly is not the ‘dignity’ that PDP had promised to fight for”, Sakina Ittoo further added while addressing the gathering.

“Our support to the Congress Candidate, Jenab Ghulam Ahmed Mir will be complete and strong and we will together defeat the PDP candidate with a record margin. This will be a strong message to the PDP-BJP alliance architects and its patrons and will also define the strength and resolution of our people in fighting for their identity and dignity”, the Senior National Conference Leader said.

On this occasion glowing tributes were paid to Veteran NC Leader and Former Speaker Late Wali Mohammad Ittoo on his 23rd Death Anniversary. “Ittoo Sahab was humble, modest and a valiant soldier of the party. He never compromised on his ideals and his commitment to his people was unwavering and stoic. In his martyrdom, we lost a great son of the soil who had always fought for the voiceless, dis-empowered and impoverished sections of our society. The best tribute to Ittoo Sahab would be to fight against evil forces who have bartered this State and its rights in lieu of personal power”, Sakina Ittoo added.

Senior National Conference Leader including MLA Homshalibug Abdul Majeed Bhat (Larmi), MLC Ali Mohammad Dar, Peerzada Ghulam Ahmed Shah, District President Anantnag Dr. Mohammad Shafi, Provincial Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Senior District Vice President Mohammad Safdar Khan, Advocate Farooq Ahmed Ganai, YNC District President Kulgam Ishtiyaq Ahmed Ganai and Congress Leader Bashir Ahmed Malik besides other also addressed the gathering and paid glowing tributes to Late Wali Mohammad Ittoo on his 23rd Death Anniversary.
