Gojri play 'Maqdam Bajyoo' reflect realities of tribal life

Jammu, March 24, (Scoop News)- The tribal and nomadic actors of far-flung area performed in a Gojri play 'Maqadam Bajyoo' held at Abhinave Threare here today. The production was held under the banner of Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation -a main organisation of the tribes of the state.
Directed by Ch Shokat Naseem- a tribal from Rajouri the performance was based on the concept story written by Dr. Javaid Rahi -a well known tribal researcher.
Dr. Shahid Iqbal, IAS , Director Information and Public Relations was chief guest on the occasion while Dr. A S Amn Additional Secretary was guest of Honour. A number of tribal dignitaries, students and scholars witnessed the play.
Dr. Shahid Iqbal while praising the production stated that it refelected the real ethose of life of nomadic Gujjars. He said Gojri is a very rich language and there is a need to hold many such productions in the state to highlights the shades of tribal life. He said Gujjars owns rich folk-lore and performing arts which needs proper projection at all levels. He congratulated the artists , director and Tribal Foundation for the play.
Earlier welcoming the gusts , Dr Javaid Rahi , the writer of the play said that 'Maqadam Bajyoo' -the production- was designed to portrayed the real picture of nomadic life of Gujjars on the stage. The reflected the social problems and issues being faced by our tribal and nomadic communities in their day to day life.
Ch Shokat Naseem the Director of the play stated that the play was enacted and produced mainly by the member of Gujjar Bakerwal Community which emerged after a continues process of 21 days workshop conducted in Rajouri by the foundation.
The story of the play revolves around the issues of a marriage . The whole play revolve arround the 'Muqadam'- the Tribal headman - who have a right to interfere in tribal life. Later the dispute resolved amicably with the interference of local teacher and ends with a celebrations of a marriage ceremony. Uniqueness of this play was that it gives a peep into the old migratory life which is different from the sedentary.
The play was staged in traditional attire and use of their traditional oral lore, music on the stage have took the audience to remote tribal pastures of Gujjar Bakerwals.
The play was based on folk-motifs and was designed to reflect Gujjar Culture and inheritance. The play also highlighted the old performing art tradition.
Those who performed in the play includes Irshad Ahmed, Shabaz Naseem, Basharat Ali, Sadaqat Ali, , Rafi Shabnum, Bedar Bakhat , Naseer Ahmed , , Liaqat Ali , Bedar Bakhat, Sarwar Hussain. Two ladies artists Archna Sharma also preformed in the play. Music of the play was given by Muzamal Shah , Lights were designed by Tariq Fahim and Pankaj Sharma and the Costume / Jewellery was arranged by Malla. The production was held with the support and collaboration of Ministry of Culture, Govt of India.The Director of the play Shokat Naseem introduced his team.
