CUK lays foundation for 2 more PEB’s for academic activities at Ganderbal

Ganderbal,March 28,(Scoop News)-Commissioner/Secretary to Jammu and Kashmir Government, Department of Higher Education, Dr. Asgar Samoon and Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi today laid the foundation stones of two additional blocks of Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEBs), which will house eight academic departments, at varsity’s designated campus here in the presence of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Finance Officer, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Haji, Deans of Schools and senior functionaries of the university were also present on the occasion.
The two blocks each with the plinth area of 1985 sqm and total built up area of 3870 sqm would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 33 crores and would house eight academic departments with 24 classrooms and 48 faculty rooms.
Dr. Asgar Samoon and Vice-Chancellor, KU, Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, congratulated the Vice-Chancellor, CUK, Prof. Mehraj ud Din for starting the constructions on the permanent structures for which the foundation was laid yesterday and for establishing two more blocks of the PEBs. Prof. Mehraj ud Din informed the guests that the university would shift the academic activities to the designated campus immediately after the executing agency hands over the possession of the Pre Engineered Buildings.
PLANTATION DRIVE HELD
The Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) organized a plantation drive in the Ganderbal campus wherein Commissioner/Secretary to Jammu and Kashmir Government, Department of Higher Education, Dr. Asgar Samoon, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi Vice-Chancellor, CUK, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Finance Officer, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Haji, Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, Deans of other Schools, planted saplings.
The saplings were provided by the Rahim Greens free of cost.
