Shaheen condemns use of excessive force against Banihal students

Banihal ,April 18, (Scoop News)- District President National Conference, Ramban Mr Sajjad Shaheen on Tuesday condemned brutal action by the security forces against the students in Banihal town, on Jammu- Srinagar National Highway, and sought immediate action against such of the personnel who committed human rights violations by targeting youngsters.
“The present PDP-BJP dispensation has lost the moral authority to rule”, he said while referring to the chaotic situation across the state.
He said the students were holding peaceful demonstrations to express their solidarity with the suffering students in the Kashmir Valley, who have been at the receiving end of the excessive force. He said lot many students have got injured due to teargas shells and lathicharge in Pulwama, Srinagar and other areas of the Valley, which has hurt the students of Banihal as well.
The District President said that the administration has failed in controlling the situation due to lack of political direction. “Due to wrong policies of the present government, the state has almost been reverted back to 1990 scenario”, he added.
Mr Shaheen expressed anguish over the recent happenings in the Valley which led to killing of eight persons and injuries to hundreds. He said the spree of indiscriminate arrests has created fear among the people and called for end to the atrocities by dismissing the anti-people PDP-BJP government. He also sought action against the forces committing serious human rights violations.
