| JK Pradesh Congress Committee condemns assault on media persons | | terms it as an attack on freedom of press |
Jammu, May 20, (Scoop News)-JKPCC chief spokesperson and former legislator, Ravinder Sharma, has strongly condemned the assault on the media person of a national channel (Aaj Tak Group) by a senior separatist leader on Friday morning and termed it as an attack on the freedom of press.
Reacting to the incident, Congress spokeperson termed it as highly provocative and offensive act on the part of the separatist leader Yasin Malik and described it as their frustration after the media expose of their illegal activities.
He said the media persons in this state are doing a great service risking their own lives while reporting the ground situations such a behavior and illegal act calls for stern action under law against the guilty and expressed full solidarity with the media fraternity and demanded stern action under law about these incidents and the recent media expose by the Aaj Tak / India today about the connection of separatists.
Sharma said that present centre government is indulging in rhetorics over the separatists but it should now hold through probe and appropriate action in the matter.... |
