First phase of Bandipora-Srinagar road to be completed within 3 months
Naeem Akhtar announces Rs 7 crore bridge on Arin nallah, Bailey bridge at Bapura

Bandipora, May 22, (Scoop News)-To supplement and strengthen the road network in Bandipora district, the Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar, Monday directed for speedy completion of Srinagar-Bandipora road and announced the construction of a major bridge on Arin Nallah and Bailey bridge at Bapora.
The Minister stated this while addressing a public meeting at Sumlar Bandipora today. He said the various measures are afoot to improve the road connectivity in the district.
While interacting with various public deputations at Panzinara, the Minister said that the much awaited potable water supply to the area will start before the onset of Ramadan. He also said that the roads in the area will be repaired and the vital link road will be developed on priority.
He said that the first phase of Rs 19 crore Srinagar-Bandipora road has already been taken up and asked the concerned officers to ensure its completion within three months.
He also announced construction of bridge Arin Nallah to be completed at a cost of Rs 7 core for which the DPR has already been approved, adding that it will benefit of large section of society.
In order to provide hassle-free commute, Akhtar also announced construction of Bailey bride at Bapura. Stressing on the importance of the Arin road which would connect dozens of villages, he announced that work on this vital road shall commence from the month of June.
Later, chairing a meeting with Traders Federation of Bandipora, the Minister said that the Government is committed to give a facelift to the town on modern lines and for this more than Rs 1 crore will be spent on various beautification projects.
He directed the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to identify a land in the town for the construction of multi-level car parking. He also directed for repair and maintenance of the irrigation canal passing through the town. He further ordered the officials to take immediate steps for removing encroachments, regulation of traffic, maintenance of drains and footpaths in the town.
The Minister was accompanied by Legislator Yasir Reshi, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Chief Engineer R&B & PMGSY and other concerned officials.
