Congress observes 26th Death Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi




Jammu, May 22, (Scoop News)-Rich Tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 26th Martyrdom today, in a function held at party office near here which was presided over by president JKPCC G.A. Mir and attended by senior functionaries of PCC,DCC and frontal organizations.



Prominent amongest them included M/s Mula Ram , Raman Bhalla , Jahangir Mir, Ravinder Sharma, Rajnesh Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Vikram Malhotra, Indu pawar, Anil Chopra, Naresh Gupta- MLC, Shiv Dev Singh, B.S. Sambyal, Hari Singh Chib, Hira Lal Pandita, M.K. Bhardwaj, Kuldeep Verma,



While paying floral tributes JKPCC chief Mir described Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary leader who prepared the country and the youth of the nation for the challenges of the 21st century in the world.


He introduced the I.T revolution in the country as a result India has immerged as leader in the field of I.T and Computer in the world and the youth of this country got the maximum jobs opportunities in this field within and outside the country.


Today the present government talks of digital India because of Rajiv Gandhi, whom then opposition parties had described as a “Computer Boy”.



PCC chief said that Panchayat Raj in the country and lowering of age for voting rights from 21st years to 18 years is the result of Rajiv Gandhi’s Vision. He strengthened democracy at the grass root level in the country with greater participation of women, youth, SCs, STs, OBCs and transferred power to the people.



He regretted that his untimely assassination has left his dreams halfway, which is the responsibility of the present generation to carry forward and the congressmen have to adhere to the programmes, principles and ideology of the party and our great leaders.



Mir asked the party leaders and grass root workers to highlight the great achievements of the party amongst the people and to expose the falsehood and propaganda of the BJP.


He said that congress is committed to maintain the unity and integrity of the country and religious brotherhood for which our leaders have given supreme sacrifices.



Several other Senior leaders paid rich tributes to the leader and described him as the Architect of 21st century India because his initiatives in bringing IT revolution, Panchayat Raj System and greater involvement of youth in democracy.



Prominent among those who attended were Neeraj Gupta, Pawan Raina, Manjeet Singh Jatt, Vijay Manhas, Udhay Singh Chib, Anuradha Andotra, Sanjeev Sharma, Pankaj Dogra, Gurdarshan Singh, Nadeem Niaz, Gajan Singh and others....
