Nation must salute Jammu, says Rana

Bajalta,July 15, (Scoop News)- Saying that Jammu has again re-established its secular credentials with a sense of renewed commitment, National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana on Saturday lauded peoples’ unflinching faith in time-tested legacy of inclusiveness and spirit of harmonious co-existence.
“It is the essence and strength of Jammu’s pluralistic ethos that makes it shinning symbol of India’s secular fabric for centuries”, Mr Rana said while interacting with people of Bajalta during his extensive visit to Bajalta, Malhori Jagir, Pargalta and Tutan Di Khui in Nagrota Constituency.
He felt elated while referring to the spirit of togetherness demonstrated by people of Jammu, irrespective of caste, creed and colour, in the wake of recent terror strike on Amarnath pilgrims in Srinagar and said the high degree of resilience makes them distinct in the country. “The nation must acknowledge and emulate this spirit”, he said, adding that the valiant people of the region rightfully deserve salute of the compatriots for standing tall in the prevailing myopic environs of hate and intolerance.
In this context, Mr Rana made a mention of the unity exhibited by Jammu by rising above party politics and religious affiliations in maintaining the environment of tranquility amid human tragedy in Srinagar. “This is gratifying”, he said and gave credit to all the political, social and religious organizations which kept Jammu’s promise with its destiny during most crucial times.
The Provincial President said that by maintaining calm and peace, the people of Jammu have actually renewed their faith in secular traditions which were galore time and again, more recently during the early nineties when people in distress from the Valley and other parts of the state made this proud land their second home. “The people did not only opened up their arms with affection but looked after the comfort of people in distress with sincerity of purpose”, he said, adding that this spirit is getting bequeathed from generation to generation. He said secularism is in the veins of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians of this region that has withstood challenges during most horrendous times.
Mr Rana said that unity in diversity being practiced by Jammu is needed to be acknowledged by the nation in terms of its holistic development, especially the temple city being the base camp for Kashmir and Ladakh bound tourists besides lakhs of pilgrims thronging for paying obeisance at the revered shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi 24X7X365 apart from Shri Amarnathji. “Jammu deserves its rightful place on the map of country’s tourism landscape, as a matter of right”, he said and added that this calls for a special dispensation to transform Jammu’s destiny.
During his interaction, the MLA Nagrota responded to the various issues raised by the people and said these are vigorously being pursued with concerned agencies. He said he is endeavouring for treading the constituency on the path of futuristic development, keeping in view its potential for growth and expansion. He referred to network of roads laid during recent years and special thrust laid on upgrading the power and water supply. In the rural development sector, several initiatives are being coordinated for upgrading facilities as per requirement of each area. He said the people at grass roots level have been empowered to fix priorities for their areas, which has gone well in undertaking the most needed schemes in each Panchayat Halqa.
Earlier, Mr Rana flagged various developmental initiatives like macademisation of roads in the area.
