Rajouri, July 21, (Scoop News)-The drive launched by District Administration through Power Development Department (Electric Maintenance and Rural Electrification) assisted by Police and Executive Magistrates has crossed the mark of Rs 10 Lakh fine imposed in less than a week.

Total fine imposed during the ongoing drive is marked at Rs 10,25,624. So far 555 inspections have been conducted, 251 connections involving a total load of 212.25 KW have been regularized. The drive against illegal connections has been started in view of power theft leading to drainage of state resources and also causing unscheduled power cuts due to unauthorized load.
Rs 1,91,817 fine has been imposed in Rajouri-I Sub-Division, Rs 4,53,481 in Rajouri-II, Rs 52,000 in Nowshera, Rs 2,67,826 in Sunderbani and Rs 60,500 in Koteranka. Maximum number of 89 connections have been regularized in Rajouri-II while lowest 11 number of connections in Sunderbani.
District Administration has stressed upon power consumers to get their illegal power connections regularized to avoid disconnection and fine apart from penal action. Illegal power connections and unauthorised load especially of commercial connections has been leading to damage of transformers and unscheduled power cuts which the drive intends to streamlines.
The monitoring cell in office of District Development Commissioner oversees the daily enforcement progress and replacement of transformers. More than 15 transformers have been replaced in affected areas. Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri today reviewed the progress and directed the SDM to ensure complete assistance to Power Department and also work for greater public coordination.
