Congress castigates BJP for its opportunistic role in JK

Jammu August 2, (Scoop News)-A meeting of senior functionaries of PCC and legislators of Jammu province was held here on Wednesday to review the overall situation in the state.

The meeting was presided over by PCC Chief Sh. G.A. Mir and attended by senior vice- president Sham Lal Sharma, vice- presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, G.M. Saroori, Kanta Bhan besides general secretaries and MLA/MLCs.

The meeting discussed the current political and security situation in the state besides discussing the organizational affairs.

The meeting blamed the coalition partners of generating controversies to divert attention of the people from their failures on all fronts especially from the mis-governance and misrule, to address the basic needs of the people.

Lashing out at PDP and BJP for the contradictory statements and approach to the sensitive issues in order to address their respective electorate, as a result the coalition partners have widened the gap between regions and communities as part of their divisive approach for political dividends.

Referring to recent highly objectionable utterances of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti about the national flag and other controversial agenda, the Congress leaders questioned the BJP for its studied silence and continuance in coalition, which speaks of the highly opportunist and power hungry approach of the party. It appears to be match fixing for power between two partners.

The meeting also expressed grave concern over the prevailing security situation and rise of militancy in the valley, which indicate the failures of the state and centre during the past over two years.

While lauding the security forces for their fight against militancy and in eliminating the large number of terrorists, at the cost of their lives as a high number of security personnel have laid down their lives in fighting militancy in the recent periods, it said that these figures reflect a high degree of upward trend in the graph of militancy including fresh recruitments in recent past, which is cause of great concern.

The drive against militants has always continued and should be persued vigorously as the figures reveal that highest number of militants eliminated during this period from January to July was recorded in the year 2010, when 156 militants were eliminated and it continued in successive years also, but the fresh recruitments to militant cadres had gone down considerably to very lowest levels in previous years, which unfortunately is on rise during past over a year or so, which is the real cause of concern and challenge to the governments and the forces.

The meeting also took stock of the situation in our neighborhood and expressed concern over the incidents along LoC and IB with Pakistan and China.

The state and centre governments have failed to ensure safety, security and proper rehabilitation of the affected population so far especially in Rajouri-Poonch and demanded that all promised and necessary measures be taken for them on war footing, as people are facing great hardships in temporary border camps, besides loss of lives and properties.

The meeting also strongly lambasted and criticized the Govt. for the price hike of ration in PDS including sugar, rice, atta and kerosene oil besides failure to provide ration to APL category.

The poor and middle class families are worst hit due to total failure of the Govt. in the wake of unprecedented price hike of all items of common use. The additional tax on mobile recharge has hit the common man badly besides the faulty implementation of GST and additional toll tax has put the people of the state to unnecessary burden and hardships.

The Congress party would launch a mass movement to highlight the failures of the government on all fronts and expose the BJP in Jammu Province about its opportunist and power hungry politics....
