Chief Secretary chairs 101st FAC meeting Several proposals cleared
Srinagar, August 10, (Scoop News)-The Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) headed by Chief Secretary, B B Vyas Thursday in its 101st meeting cleared several proposals of urgent developmental and public importance, on the specified terms and conditions.
The proposals cleared today include use of forest land for establishment of National Large Solar Telescope in Ladakh, Widening/upgradtion of 4 lane Satwari-Airport R S Pura road by PW(R&B) department, construction of Chanesargala to Kallar road by PMGSY in Nowshera Forest Division etc.
Financial Commissioner Revenue, Mr Lokesh Dutt Jha, Administrative Secretaries of the departments of Forest, Ecology & Environment and PHE and I&FC, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), J&K, J&K, Member Secretary and Chief Conservator of Forests and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
While reiterating the directions for ensuring minimum felling of trees and undertaking compensatory afforestation over alternate land in lieu of diversion of forest land, Chief Secretary emphasized on strict supervision and monitoring of approved works in the forest areas.
Chief Secretary directed that an evaluation study on PMGSY roads cleared by the FAC be conducted by the PW(R&B) and a report submitted on monthly basis.
