| Prof. Abdul Farhan, from Ahlia University-Kingdom of Bahrain, delivers Lecture at IUST | |
Awantippora,August 11, (Scoop News)-An eminent academician Prof. (Dr.) Ali Abdul Nabi Farhan Head, Department of Arabic Language & Literature, Ahlia University, Kingdom of Bahrain delivered an invited lecture on “The Significance of Classical Arabic Literature in the Contemporary Arab World” at Islamic University of Science & Technology (UST) Awantipora.
The lecture was organized by the Department of Arabic Language & Literature, IUST.
In his address, Prof. Farhan encompassed the significance of Classical Arabic Literature in historical perspective from Pagan Period to Modern Period. He discussed various aspects of narrations and their techniques in classical Arabic literature. He emphasized the role of Maqaamat and eminent odds of pre- Islamic period in modern times.
The foundation of modern fiction of contemporary Arab world was the handiwork of luminaries of Abasid period like Bedihuz- Zaman Al- Hamdani and Hariri, he added. The lecture was followed by a fruitful Question & Answer session, wherein the various queries/clarifications raised by the participants were addressed.
